1. Red breasted Sapsucker

Red Breasted Sapsucker is a vibrant small woodpecker found in the west Coast of Mountains. They mostly feed on tree saps. An anticoagulant is found in their saliva. It helps them to fed as the sap flows and allows them to feed many times. Thus the bird should not agan chisel the holes. You can find them at the stands of Bigleafmaple and western hemlock in lower elevation forests. 

Sometimes the area’s hummingbirds too take advantage of it. And they feed from this energy rich food source from the tree.

2. White tailed Ptarmigan

It is the awesome mountain bird and has  a rarer species. In high mountains White tailed Ptarmigan is found. It is the most cryptic bird as their feathers have very similar texture and color like mountains.  Thus it’s very difficult to find and watch them. The best place to search for them is the area in alpine where herbaceous plants and lichens grow.During the summers, they feed on insects, small alpine plants, fruits and leaves. 

But during winter they bury themselves in the snow in order to protect themselves from the cold.

Also, during summer, if you are trekking towards Gondola up Whistler, or blackcomb mountains you may get a chance to view them. 

3. Tufted Puffin

Tufted Puffin found in the British Columbia’s Rocky coasts. It is one of the comical looking seabirds. For breeding, they select cliffs and islands to protect from predators.They need soft soil for breeding so that they can dig nesting burrows.

During winter their clan comes out to the sea and spends their time at the coast. 

4. Great Grey Owl

Grey Owl is one of the massive in height and spectacular in looks. It is an incredible bird found in British columbia. People get eager to watch such owls through their bird watching journey in British Columbia. It is the world’s largest owl by length. These owls are mostly active in mornings and evenings. And sleeps at night time. Such birds are called Crepuscular. Some people have noticed them while hunting during the day. 

However they have small claws to hunt their prey, despite having massive size. They basically hunt rodents and voles. They have very sharp eyesights. Also they can smell their hunt buried into snow several feets deep. 

5. Black Oystercatcher

It is the visible hunting bird found in small groups. They can be found easily on the sea coast. Avoid sandy beaches to watch them, you will find them at low tide. As a tourist visitor or a bird watcher you need to move to West Vancouver, Victoria and Howe Sound to look at them. They feed on mussels and limpets.

All kinds of natural resources have a very crucial part in every human’s life. Humans get stress relief when they are around and along with nature’s sights and beauty. Colombia River Gorge is a good example of this. We humans have a natural appreciation tendency. We tend to appreciate every thing which makes the world around us beautiful. British Columbia’s natural abundance is one of the aesthetic things that every human should appreciate. 

But due to growing human habitat and destruction of many forests and natural resources, we tend to fail to appreciate our world resources which are worthy of it. Due to egoistic human nature our instinct gets suppressed to realize the beauty around us. The common incredible sights are the sunset which has orange, purple and red shades. The second is a view from a high cliff of several miles of coastline. Lastly, a look from beneath the massive tree towards it or a sparkling silver water from the waterfall. 

Waterfalls – a natural resource

Waterfalls have a novel capacity to blow our mind. There is a rousing thing about them – the manner in which water changes in shape and structure from a smooth delicate surface to a roaring crash. Also to explore some of the noteworthy and social attractions like Multnomah Falls, Crown Point, Beacon Rock State Park and Rowena Crest Viewpoint. Many miles of climbing, hiking and cascades make the Columbia River Gorge an unquestionable requirement on any person’s list of spots to visit.

As it is influenced by the North Pacific Current. 

The average annual rainfall is 6903mm. And it showers on the Hucuktlis lake on Vancouver Island. But some parts of the Columbia are declared or classified as having a warmer climate as we see in the summers. The warmest climate in Canada is in Victoria. It has an average annual temperature of 11.2 degrees Celsius. The most populated area of the province has the mildest climate that is up to 12 degrees Celsius.

Some of the interior or depth valleys have semi-arid nature. The semi-arid climate is because of successive mountain ranges which get blocked. The annual precipitation in certain locations receives less than 250 mm.  Southern columbia valleys have short winters with cold or heavy snowfall. They are very cold because of high altitude and latitude. The roads are very foggy and colder to drive on, the conditions sometimes become more slippery for vehicles to move from there. The one of the coldest regions recorded in Northern America is -58.9 degrees Celsius. 

About Wildlife of British Columbia

People in British Columbia are lucky to have abundant wildlife resources. They have untouched nature. But with the heavy pressure on resource extraction, this high flora and fauna natural resources is depleting fast. With logging, mining, gas and oil investigation all of nature is under danger. Because of this destruction, certain types of creatures were previously has record on the jeopardised list. 

British Columbia in Canada has 308 more unique species than other provinces. So they have major responsibility on them to protect the spices from human made destructions as well as natural calamities. This region has a history of a few thousands years of geographical as well as natural climatic blessings. The region remained icefree thus allowing the species to live there.

Thus the wild life creatures are restrict to a small land area with a small population. So this part is a must to get under natural resource protection in Columbia. About 90% of animals and plant spices are vulnerable to extinction. Such locations where the species are being restrict to their population need to be search. And a special act needs to be form with the levels of government for their conservation laws. Thus it is a very urgent responsibility of the British Columbia people to act accordingly, otherwise they will lose the rich natural abundance that many provinces don’t have.
