Valentine Mountain Trail
|
| Valentine Mountain Trail is located on the top portion of the Sunshine Coast in the community of Powell River, BC, Canada. The 0.6 km (0.4 mi.) trail is a short easy to medium effort type like hike with views from many compass points. Do a little exploring at the summit and you can see islands, peninsulas, lakes and communities. The distance is short, but it is mostly uphill including 90+ wooden steps. The trail up Valentine Mountain does, at times, follow along the mountain's cliffs, so be smart hikers. Keep your eye on the young ones. It should take about 15-20 minutes including some breaks to reach the top. At the summit there are some private picnic tables so a group can sit back and enjoy some food and liquid while taking in the many different views of the surrounding islands like Texada, Savary and Cortes Island. Also there are little off -shoot trails exploring the summit leading to more views. On the east side of Valentine Mountain there are views of Mowat Bay , Cranberry and Powell Lake. The northwestern sight lines off of the mountain are of Powell Lake Marina, Scout Mountain and One Mile Bay. Access to Valentine Mountain: In the city of Powell River BC , from the BC Ferry Terminal in Westview head north on Hwy 101. Turn right on Alberni Street to Manson Avenue and keep driving to the end when Manson meets Cranberry Street and take a left. Continue on and turn right at Crown Avenue and you should see the parking lot. |
