| Holly Branch Trail is a 5 km hiking and mountain biking trail located on the northern end of the Sunshine Coast south of Powell River, British Columbia near Duck Lake. The moderately easy grade trail passes through forests and alongside rumbling creeks. The Holly Branch Trail nature walk is a loop trail highlighted by the picnic site by a creek. Holly Branch Trailhead is flagged by Blue/Green on Red Diamond markers and a large cement monument. Start trekking up the trail until you come to a junction. Mark the spot in your mind, as this is the beginning and the end of the trail. Holly Branch Trail is one big circle route. Stray to the left at the junction and walk-a-ways and the trail eventually hooks into the Suicide Creek Trail. Two trails become one for a short distance. Continue to follow the creek 'til you come to the picnic area. When you decide to pick up the trail again, start heading past the picnic area to the bridge. Take a right at the junction and head back to the start of the big circle route. But, if you take a left, you will end up hiking the trail back to the Granite Main Line. All in all, if you take a right and do the big Holly Branch Trail circle hike it wil take 3-4 hours pending on picnic breaks. Access to Holly Branch Trail: It is best to follow the main highway, Highway 101, until just south of Powell River where you turn onto Goat Lake Main Line (make a note here, when the name of the road changes to Granite Main Line part way up do not panic as it is suppose to do that. One of those split personality roads). If you run into Burma Road junction you missed it by 1.5 km. Turn around and head south and look for markers. |
