Blackwater Trail Marker Duck Lake on the way to Blackwater Trail Mountain Biking Trail

Blackwater Creek Trail in Powell River, BC Canada on the Sunshine Coast is a comfortable 4 km hike and mountain bike ride. The trail route is used by both hikers and mountain bikers, so keep your head up. The hiking path is cleared but a little rough in spots. Overall the hiking trail is a short gem of a walk that should not take you more then 3 hours to complete at a reasonable pace.

That is including putting in some time at the waterfalls and enjoying a lunch time moment at the picnic area. The wilderness views are memorable including elevated views looking down on the creek, waterfalls and crossing little wooden river bridges.

The Blackwater Creek Trailhead is found 100 metres from the junction of Burma and Alaska Pine Roads. Best to leave the vehicle at the junction and walk up Burma Road to the trailhead. The trailhead marker is a big cement monument and is the beginning to both Sweetwater Creek and Blackwater Creek Trails. Steer right and that is Blackwater Trail. Hike along the railway path to the top of the hill to the views overlooking Blackwater Creek. Continue to the first bridge crossing at Kelly Falls. Once across the bridge keep left and the trail will lead to David Lam Falls and the picnic site.

Pack up the food, brush off and pick up the trail again until you reach the logging road and then turn left and keep trekking until you reach Washout Creek. Pick up the trail so to follow Washout Creek back to the old railway path to Burma Road.
