Sunshine Coast Parks & Trails
The Sunshine Coast, British Columbia, Canada park and trail system is separated into activity type and then by location relative to the upper and lower Sunshine Coast regions.
The variety of adventure parks and wilderness trails located in the Sunshine Coast area of BC are listed below:
Walking Parks & Trials: Short routes that take less than an hour to complete. Many are loop trails, some are not. Some trails trek along creeks with spawning Salmon and Bald Eagles, others walk up to waterfalls, through bird sanctuaries, provincial parks, old growth forests, wetlands and so much more.
Hiking Parks & Trials: Longer routes, many lead to numerous lakes and spanning mountain views revealing the whole ocean coastline. These mainly, loop trail routes are a full day trip involving effort and good physical fitness. They involve climbing steep grade trails up to mountain viewpoints, trekking around lakes, crossing suspended bridges over rumbling rivers, slicing through old growth forests and so much more. Pack a lunch.
Backpacking Wilderness Trails: Multi day backpacking long haul trips. An experienced wilderness hiker should be present in every backpacking group. But the whole group should enjoy getting dirty and getting up close and personal with nature to have fun. These routes involve wilderness camping or trekking to remote cabins. A no messing around hike, you pack in what you pack out. Be Bear Aware.
Mountain Biking Parks & Trails: Short and long haul routes all exploring around the Sunshine Coast. There is even a mountain bike park...wicked eh! Mountain Biking routes include amazing mountain views, some top notch speed sections, some technical forest riding, peddling logging roads and along creek beds. Most day adventures, some could involve multi day wilderness camping.
Marine Parks: Many of the marine parks are located off the coastline of the Sunshine Coast including islands with beaches, trails, amazing views, wildlife and privacy. Many of the marine parks are mostly accessed by boat or kayak. There are some marine parks that include a section of the Sunshine Coast shorelines.
